I have been in and around the construction
business since 1961. I started learning as soon
as I was big enough to pick up a hammer.
I have owned my
own business
since I was 18.
For the last 58 years, I have specialized in high-end Furniture,
Cabinets, Trim, Stairways and anything that involves wood on the
interiors & exteriors of buildings.
In 1978, I began using 3-1/2" casing and
5-1/2" base trim with
plinth and rosette
blocks on medium priced homes.  This
process had been abandoned in the
1930s for economic reasons.
I have been an innovator in coming up
with new ways to have higher quality trim
for all types of buildings.  In 1977, I
started staining and pre-finishing trim so
that it could be color and grain matched
during installation.
I have made custom cabinetry and
furniture for a few musical entertainers'
tour busses and vans.  The work I
have done includes a tour bus for
renowned gospel singer, Sandi Patty
and two very high-end vans built
exclusively for Prince and Shella E.'s
Purple Rain tour.
I have recently created a new type of cabinet box.  It is a
hybrid combination of frame and frameless styles.  It
hangs like a frame style cabinet with the incentive of
being put together on the job site by semi-skilled
installers after being pre-finished in the shop. There is
also the advantage of being able to carry the parts for a
whole kitchen to the job site in a well organized  van
along with the tools needed to install the cabinets.
In 1985, I started pre-finishing
all cabinet parts before
assembly.
I started using a sandwich of solid
wood and plywood for exterior
doors to reduce warpage and
increase their "R" factor in 1979.

Because so much hardwood is
being used on floors in kitchens
today, I introduced
galvanized
overflow pans as a standard item
on Sink Base cabinets and
raised
Dishwasher Cabinets. I also
design into my kitchens and
laundry rooms an overflow drain
made out of ceramic for the
refrigerator and washing machine
on all my jobs. If the job did not
call for me to raise the
dishwasher, I would use the same
drain design that is used for the
refrigerator. The insurance
companies love me. Have you
ever had to replace a hardwood
floor in a kitchen after water
damage?
All of the  ideas and innovations I have
come up with over the years have helped
the builders I have worked with become the
'Go to Guys' after  potential clients got
tired of hearing "we can't do that" or "that's
not the way we've always done it" from
other builders.
