The basement with the bar was completed in 1984. The stair railing is
Oak with brass newels and 1/4" bronze glass replacing the balusters.
Notice the deeply etched rosettes in the middle of the glass panels.
The stairway was the first of many of which glass was an integral part
of the design. I have  used a large amount of art glass throughout my
career and it all came from
Moss Art Glass in Anderson, Indiana.
mossglass.com   As you can see, the bar has many unique features
for 1984. For  instance we installed a  downdraft exhaust cooktop, a
built-in microwave, and a pull out ceramic shelf for food preparation
right beside the cooktop. The bar area has an illuminated glass
ceiling, etched glass  inlaid in the  cabinet top on the back bar. The
back bar also has  etched mirrors in back of the etched glass shelves.
The bar is made of
Poplar with an Oak Chicago bar rail. All the exterior
basement windows were beveled leaded glass. This bar area also had
a pinball machine, a slot machine, a real fire place, an overhead TV,
and every other amenity you would want in a sports bar. The kitchen
was completed in 1986. The kitchen, which is made of
Cherry , has the
most cabinetry I've ever put in such a small area. As you can see,
every nook and cranny is filled. The
Convexbulkhead is one of a kind.
I have never seen another one like it, in person or in magazines,
before or since I installed it in 1986. The island is the smallest one I
have ever designed and installed in a kitchen. It would not conform
with code today. However, at the time and in this particular area it did.
The sewing room, which was completed in 1995, would be the envy of
any seamstress. The bathroom was completed in 2005.  I included it,
not because it was such an innovation in design, but because it will be
the last work that I will do on this house. The reason being that, sadly,
the owners retired and moved to Florida.  I want to thank them for a
large portion of the pictures you see below. As with many of my clients,
I developed with them a long and satisfying business and personal
relationship because of their respect and appreciation of innovative
design and quality workmanship and for not being afraid of trying
something new.
