| This house was completed in 1995. It was a major remodel with the roof being raised, a second-floor being added, and the back portion being added on to create this soaring two-story great room. The work on the house lasted over a year, with the owners and their children living in the house the whole time. Needless to say, the stress level had everyone at the breaking point towards the end of the project. I was brought in by the architect, Harry Eggink , to build the stairway and do the trim work in the new portion of the house. I did not do the kitchen. The stairway, designed by Harry Eggink, is quite unusual, it is made of solid Red Oak, and some Red Oak veneer. Mr. Eggink is also a professor of architecture at what is considered one of the top ranked Schools Of Architecture in the world. This school is at Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. Mr.Eggink loved to play with light. I tried to capture this in the pictures that you see. I went on to do several more jobs for Mr. Eggink & his partner in Eggink Mounayar & Associates, Inc. I also did work for several more of the professors of architecture at this university, including Tony Costello, who is internationally known for his urban planning expertise. |
